Dependence on Foreign Oil

Dependence on Foreign Oil is a chaotic double pendulum driven by a motor at 1 RPM. Attached to the end of the second pendulum is a small plastic army figure. It was first constructed during the run-up to the Iraq War (No. 2) and used as my gallery come-on for the East Bay Open Studios (at ProArts in Oakland, CA). As I was installing it, one of the other artists there (Bart Trickle) took one look and suggested the title.
